What does an NPS offer?

NPS provide specialized curricula tailored to meet the unique educational needs of each student, often featuring smaller class sizes and personalized instruction. These schools are state-certified and frequently collaborate with public school districts to support students whose needs cannot be fully met in traditional school settings. Students in NPS programs typically have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring their education aligns with specific goals and supports. Many NPS schools also offer therapeutic and behavioral services, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, and behavior management.

NPS institutions are often part of the broader network of special education options and are funded in part by public education resources when a child’s IEP team determines that a public school setting cannot adequately meet their needs.

Our Solution:
Building Connections Academy

Building Connections Academy logo

Building Connections Academy (BCA) was founded in 2023 by Jeanine Wilkinson, BCBA and Director. They are a nonpublic K-8 school with locations in Concord and Martinez, CA, serving students from the entire Bay Area who are either placed privately, or through a district referral via the IEP process.

One of the things that makes BCA unique is that they benefit from the knowledge and experience of Building Connections Behavioral Health, Inc (BCBH), their parent organization. BCBH has been offering behavioral health services to individuals 0-22 years old with ASD, ADHD, OCD, ODD and other behavioral disorders since 2012.

BCA offers a specialized educational environment that integrates the principles of project based learning, multi-age classrooms, and special education support. It is made up of a diverse group of students with a range of strengths, interests, abilities and learning differences. We are proud to be a part of this supportive educational environment that is well beyond what is currently available in the public school system.
